"Fur-Ever Match"
Our New Adoption Program
Many families want to adopt a rescue dog or cat. But doing so isn't always easy.
"Fur-Ever Match" is our new program whose goal is to match the just right dog or cat to just the right family. Our focus is on pets who are adults, or older (6+ months) puppies or kittens. For dogs - with a few exceptions - our program adopts mixed breeds.
This is how "Fur-Ever Match" works:
1) A family in Bucks or Mercer county interested in adopting a rescue dog or cat contacts The Crossings Animal Society by phone or email.
2) We email an adoption application to the family, which includes specific questions about age, size, gender, temperament, activity level, and other characteristics of the pet they are looking for.
3) Once we receive the completed application, a volunteer or staff team member fully vets the application - including non-familial personal references, a vet reference (to the practice manager or treating vet) and a home visit.
4) When the application is approved, we reach out to our network to find just the right pet for the family.
5) We then arrange for a meet-and-greet with the adoptive family. If the meeting goes well (and it usually does!), the adoption takes place immediately.
